Background
Richard Gaughan is an optical systems engineer who has managed projects ranging from designing an undersea network of optical microphones, through developing alignment sensors for a space shuttle tracking experiment, to designing and testing a multi-sensor suite for an autonomous nanosatellite. Throughout his engineering career he has learned the value of understanding and applying scientific and technological breakthroughs.
Building on that knowledge and desire, in 1998 he began writing articles about innovations and their implications. He now has more than 200 published articles in a variety of magazines. In 2010 he wrote
